It’s been a busy week for our Transportation Solutions team, with three key announcements representing the industry’s trust in ORBCOMM’s telematics solutions for both dry and refrigerated trailer fleets. Each announcement reflects not only the unique capabilities of ORBCOMM’s solar-powered, long service life hardware and powerful web reporting applications, but also our key integrations with third-party transportation management systems (such as TMW, McLeod and PeopleNet) providing customers with complete fleet visibility through one comprehensive platform. Here’s a look at the week that was…

Trailer Telematics applicationMarch 31: Fairchild Freight Selects ORBCOMM’s Cold Chain Monitoring Solution
Fairchild Freight will use ORBCOMM’s dual-mode cellular-satellite cold chain telematics solution to provide comprehensive temperature, fuel management and maintenance data for its refrigerated trailers. Fairchild Freight will fully integrate the data with its proprietary back-office platform to optimize temperature compliance and asset utilization.

In addition, Fairchild Freight will be one of the first customers to take advantage of ORBCOMM’s integration with PeopleNet’s fleet performance monitoring platform, providing Fairchild Freight visibility to more asset classes on one comprehensive platform.

April 5, 2015: DSI Selects ORBCOMM’S Telematics Solutions for Its Dry Van and Refrigerated Trailers
DSI is using ORBCOMM’s trailer telematics systems to track, monitor and control its dry van and refrigerated trailers across the continental United States. ORBCOMM’s end-to-end solutions include proprietary hardware and a robust web application with data reporting and analytics capabilities. ORBCOMM provides DSI with two-way temperature monitoring and control, fuel management, maintenance and logistics services, which enable DSI to increase in-transit visibility and utilization of its assets, mitigate product spoilage and ensure compliance with the FDA’s upcoming Food Safety Modernization Act. In addition, ORBCOMM’s cargo sensor continuously reports the trailer’s loaded condition and changes in cargo status, helping DSI increase trailer turn time, improve productivity, eliminate costly yard checks and prevent cargo theft

ORBCOMM’s telematics solutions integrate with the McLeod LoadMaster dispatch software platform, enabling DSI to capture near-real-time asset data for their mixed fleet, including operational condition, exception reporting and GPS position, through one comprehensive system.

April 7: Brown Integrated Logistics Selects ORBCOMM’s Dry Van Trailer Tracking Solution
Brown is using ORBCOMM’s ruggedized trailer telematics system, which is self-powered with solar recharging technology for low power consumption and long service life, eliminating the need for frequent battery changes. ORBCOMM’s end-to-end solution also includes a robust web application with data reporting and analytics capabilities to increase in-transit visibility and security of Brown’s dry van assets.

ORBCOMM’s solution integrates closely with TMW Systems’ TruckMate® transportation management platform. This interface enables Brown to capture near-real-time trailer data, including operational condition, GPS position, history, as well as arrival and departure status, through one comprehensive system, increasing asset utilization and improving their tractor-to-trailer ratio.
