Eclipse is an open-source, Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that has quickly become the most widely used platform for developing applications and software packages. It uses a flexible plug-in architecture that allows users to extend its functionality to accommodate specific requirements. Eclipse runs on multiple operating systems and supports a wide range of programming languages.
In continuing to deliver a powerful set of tools to help customers simplify the development of custom software solutions and accelerate time to market, SkyWave has introduced Application Studio, an Eclipse-based Integrated Development Environment that delivers the benefits and functionality of the Eclipse platform.
The new, Windows-based Application Studio supports SkyWave’s Lua Services Framework (LSF) allowing partners to write custom services for SkyWave devices to enable tracking, monitoring and control of fixed and mobile assets in a wide range of vertical applications.
Application Studio is the latest of a series of tools available from SkyWave to help partners through every step of the solution development process.
Developer Studio, part of SkyWave’s IDP Toolkit, is another tool that enables the creation of custom services. The simplicity and ease-of-use of Developer Studio makes it an ideal choice for many developers. Application Studio is intended for developers who require multiple source files that can be individually tracked, or developers who prefer an Eclipse-based development environment.

Is this Application Studio intended for developing Android applications to communicate with the IDP units? I believe that Eclipse ADT has been superseded by Android Studio as the official IDE for Android development so is no longer supported?
Would be interested in this as I am currently developing Android applications for the IDP system.
Hi David. Thank you for your comment. Application Studio is for developing Lua services that run on the IDP terminal. If developing for Android, use either the Eclipse ADT or the newer Android Studio. There are no SkyWave development tools or samples for Android, but the IDP gateway supports a standard REST-JSON interface that is compatible with Android development.
